Round One Complete! What's Next?
So it has been about 4 months since I received my cancer diagnosis in January. Since then I've completed a round of chemotherapy which lasted about 9 weeks. It has been about 3, maybe 4 weeks since I completed this round of chemo and have since gone in for another PET/CT scan.
After speaking with my oncologists, the results of my PET scan look good. All of my tumors have been reduced in size. This wasn't much of a surprise, because the tumors in my neck I can feel are drastically smaller. Additionally, nothing new was noted on the scan.
What comes next?
After speaking with my oncologists, the plan is to start radiotherapy. This will be daily treatments of radiation for the next seven (7) weeks. Additionally one day per week I'll also receive a chemotherapy treatment along with the radiation.
Tomorrow I go in to have some bloodwork drawn in preparation for the start of treatment and discuss final treatment details with my lead oncologist. My radiation treatments are scheduled to start the day after Memorial Day. I'll continue update everyone as we start this treatment and along the way. Wish me luck!
